DIVISION 1 - BODY & FRAME
1.1 Factory production complete full American passenger frames only. All Southern Sport-Mods will compete with there body and frame rules and must run the American Racer G-60/KK-704 tire only.
1.2 Frame rails must extend to a point beyond the base of driver's seat. Rear clip may be fabricated out of tubing.
1.3 Front and rear pick-up loop required, otherwise bumpers or other pick-up point will be used.
1.4 Same bodies as A-Mods, May Run 5inch REAR SPOILERS on 2400 lbs cars only.
1.5 Wheelbase must be 108" minimum, 112 inches maximum both sides.
1.6 Bumpers must be used front and rear. Bumpers must be able to support car when lifted by wrecker.
1.7 Front bumper must be mounted on frame end and be of a semicircle configuration with the bottom loop parallel to the ground. Front bumper must be 10" high from bottom bar to top of top bar. Material must be one and one-quarter inch minimum, 2" MAXIMUM O.D. steel pipe.
1.8 Rear bumpers may be constructed of pipe, square tubing, but must not have sharp edges. Rear bumpers and nerf bars must not extend beyond width of rear tire.
1.9 Minimum weight 2,400 pounds with the open chamber heads. 2,550 pounds with Double Hump, vortec or aftermarket heads listed in Division 9.
DIVISION 2 - STEERING & CHASSIS
2.1 Front suspension must match frame and be in stock location.
2.2 Parts must be replaceable from stock OEM type parts from same type suspension except upper A-frame and A-frame mount. Tube type upper A-frame may be used. Fabricated A-frame mount may be used but must be in stock location.
2.3 Lower A-frame cannot be altered
2.4 Stock passenger car spindles only. No fabricated spindles.
2.5 Adjustable strut bars may be used on front end only
2.6 No coil over shocks allowed either front or rear.
2.7 One shock per wheel.
2.8 Steering box must be stock OEM type and be in stock location. No rack and pinion steering. No center steering.
2.9 Adjustable sway bars allowed.
2.10 REAR SUSPENSION - Two options: Aftermarket three link design or multi-leaf spring design. All components must be steel. All mounts and brackets must be welded or bolted solid.
2.11 Three link design requirements:
A) 16-inch long lower control arms allowed, arms must be the same on both sides.
B) Must use one upper control arm, solid tube only, (no pull bar spring or biscuit assembly), located at top center of rear end housing and must remain parallel to the drive shaft but does not have to be centered above drive shaft. Pull bar can be no further than 6 inches off center of the drive shaft.
C) May use minimum 19-inch long pan hard bar located behind rear end housing or minimum 19-inch long j-bar mounted to a steel pinion bracket. Measurements are from center of heim joint to center of heim joint.
D) May mount rear spring directly over axle housing or use coil over eliminators (sliders).
E) Lower spring perch or coil over mount must be welded to rear-end housing.
F) No birdcages or floating mounts allowed.
G) Must use steel upper weight jack if spring are mounted over axle housing.
2.12 Multi-leaf spring design requirements:
A) Must use steel multi-leaf springs with no additional suspension components besides one shock per wheel.
B) No floating mounts allowed.
C) Adjustable aluminum lowering blocks allowed.
DIVISION 3 - ROLL CAGE & DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT
1.3 Roll .Cage must consist of continuous hoops not less than one and one-half inches outside diameter and must have a wall thickness of at least .095".
3.2 Must be frame mounted in at least six (6) places. Body mounted roll cages not acceptable.
3.3 Must consist of configuration of front and rear hoops connected by tubing on sides or side hoops in a manner deemed acceptable by the inspector.
3.4 Driver's head must not protrude above cage with helmet on while strapped in driver's seat.
3.5 Roll cage must have a 3/16" inspection hole in non-critical area.
3.6 Must have at least three horizontal bars at driver's door welded to front and rear of roll cage members.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that the driver’s door bars are plated with not less than 3/32” steel plate and cover not less than 80% of the door area. This will be required for the 2013 racing season.
3.7 There must be a minimum of three bars in front of driver fabricated with a minimum of 3/8” steel rod.
3.8 Racing seat mandatory.
3.9 All cars must be equipped with an approved quick release type seat belt and shoulder harness securely fastened to frame and roll cage. Seat belt material should be at least 3" wide and cannot be older than 2 years.
3.10 Seat and steering wheel may be located to suit driver's taste, but must be kept on left side of car. No center steer.
3.11 Helmets are required and must be worn at all times car is on the track.
3.12 All drivers must wear fire suits of a flame-retardant nature. Two-piece suits are allowed.
3.13 Fire resistant gloves are mandatory.
3.14 Fire resistant boots are highly recommended.
3.15 A kill switch is required within easy reach of the driver. This switch must be clearly marked OFF and ON.
3.16 Weights and/or loose objects are not allowed in the driver's compartment.
3.17 All cars must be equipped with quick release type window net on driver's door.
3.18 No rear view mirrors of any kind. No radio communication or sound equipment of any kind.
DIVISION 4 - REAREND, BRAKES, & DRIVESHAFT
4.1 Any steel approved OEM passenger car or truck non-cambered rear end allowed, must be centered in chassis. All components must be steel, except lowering blocks, axle cap, and drive flange. No aluminum.
4.2 No quick-change devices allowed. Floater rear ends are allowed, no torsion type axles.
4.3 Inspection hole in housing required.
4.4 Spools ok.
4.5 Ring gear, center section and yoke cannot be lightened. One piece drive flanges only.
4.6 Disc or drum brakes may be used front and rear. No aluminum disc or brake calipers allowed.
4.7 Brakes must be operational on all 4 wheels and must lock up all four wheels during inspection. Brake shut-off ok or bias adjustment allowed.
4.8 Minimum two-inch diameter, white, steel drive shaft.
4.9 Steel slip-yokes only.
4.10 360-degree drive shaft loop required and must be constructed of at least .25-inch by two-inch steel, or one-inch tubing, mounted six inches back from front U-joint.
DIVISION 5 - TIRES & WHEELS
5.1 American Racer G-60 (KK704) Modified tires. Max. Tire width of 9", mounted on a conventional one-piece steel wheel with a max. width of 8".
5.2 You may groove or grind tires.
5.3 All tires must durometer a minimum of 55. Tire doping, treating or softening of any kind is not allowed. All penalties and fines are at the discretion of Humboldt Speedway Inc.
5.4 Wheel width must not exceed 8".
5.5 No aluminum wheels.
5.6 Bead locks allowed on right side only.
5.7 Wheel discs (Mud Plugs) allowed but must be bolted or welded or foam type. No ZUS fasteners. No mud plugs or wheel covers allowed on left side.
DIVISION 6 - ELECTRICAL & IGNITION SYSTEMS
6.1 All batteries must be mounted in a safe manner.
6.2 12-volt ignition system only.
6.3 HEI distributor only.
6.4 OEM firing order cannot be changed.
6.5 Ignition rotor, cap, coil and module must remain OEM appearing. No ignition boxes, remote coil or accessories.
6.6 All wiring must be visible for inspection.
6.7 Only gauges allowed are analog oil pressure and water temperature and analog tachometer (memory recall allowed).
6.8 No traction control or timing retard of any kind allowed.
DIVISION 7 - FUEL SYSTEMS
7.1 Gasoline only. No oxygen bearing additives.
7.2 No pressurized fuel systems.
7.3 No electric fuel pumps.
7.4 Fuel cells mandatory. Fuel cells must be encased in an approved metal container of no less than 20-guage steel or 1/8" aluminum. Fuel cells must be mounted between frame rails as far forward as possible and using four 2" by 1/8" metal straps, two in each direction. Fuel cells must not extend below the rear end housing. 32. Gal maximum. Bumper must be equipped with a drag loop extending below bottom of the cell.
DIVISION 8 - CARBURETOR & INTAKE
8.1 May use Holley 4412. Carburetor must pass go-no-go gauge.
8.2 Choke horn must remain un-altered, no modifications to base plate, venturi, boosters, throttle shaft, throttle plates or metering block.
8.3 No sideways mounted carburetors.
8.4 1 inch thick spacer. One piece intake-to-carburetor spacer.
8.5 Maximum .100 inch thick carburetor gaskets only.
8.6 Edlebrock intake manifold GM 2101, 2701, or weiand 7547-1. Ford 7121, 7181, 7183. Chrysler 2915. No Air gap manifolds. Edlebrock intake manifold GM 2101, 2116 when using vortex heads, Ford 2121 Chrysler 2176. No air gap manifold.
8.7 GM CRATE ENGINE: may use any Holley 4 barrel carburetor, all components (float bowls and main body) must be Holley manugactured. Metering blocks and base plate may be billet aluminum non-Holley. No aerosol-style carburetors allowed. May use Speedway Motors part #545-64940 or Moroso part #64940 carburetor spacer on crate.
DIVISION 9 - ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Car weight must be displayed on left front corner of roof.
These are the 2400 lbs motor rules.
9.1 Must use OEM cast iron, American make V-8 engines only. All engines must be able to be used in conventional passenger car without alterations.
9.2 External engine casting and threaded holes cannot be altered.
9.3 No aluminum, titanium or carbon fiber components allowed.
9.4 Maximum cubic inch limits: GM 361 cubic inch, Ford 360 cubic inch, Chrysler 370 cubic inch no tolerance. No 400 or larger cubic inch parts allowed.
9.5 No aluminum valve train parts allowed.
9.6 Engine must appear strictly stock.
9.7 No lightweight crank or rod rotating assemblies allowed. Crank must weigh no less than 51lbs.
9.8 No aluminum or light weight engine parts allowed.
9.9 A minimum 1" plug above the oil level in the side of the oil pan recommended. If you do not have a plug in oil pan the pan will have to be removed at time of inspection.
9.10 Must have stock appearing harmonic balancer.
9.11 General Motors: These are the 2400 lbs motor rules.
May run GM Crate motor #88958602 must use original HEI distributor with MSD #8728 rev-control and 6200 chip.
A) Must be 3.48" stroke and 4.060" maximum bore.
B) COMPONENT GUIDELINES:
Must use one of following blocks, 3892657, 3914678, 3932388, 3932386, 3956618, 3970000,3970006,3970010, 3970014, 10066033, 10066036, 14010207, 14010209, 14010287, 14016376, 14016379.
C) Heads - GM 3986336, 3986339, 3986339x, 3986388, 3932441, 3973487, 3973487x, 3973493, 3951598, 468642, 333882, 3998920, 3998991, 3998993, 3998997. Max. 2.02" intake valves and 1.60" exhaust valves. Studs may be pinned or screw in studs. Roller Rockers are allowed. Poly locks allowed. No stud girdles. No porting, polishing or alterations of any kind to intake or heads. No vortec, bowtie or angle plug heads. No double hump heads. IMCA EQ head #CH3501, is the only after market head allowed must have stamp and serial number.
D) Flattop or dished pistons only.
E) Must use flat tappet cam and lifters. No mushroom liters. Cannot alter lifter bores.
F) May use oil restrictors.
G) Any length push rods allowed.
H) Crankshafts strokes allowed:

9.12 Ford:
A) Stock OEM cast iron blocks 260, 289,302,351. No SVO blocks.
B) Max. 360 cubic inches
C) Any Ford cast iron OEM production cylinder head with in line valves (no canted valves) and with valves no larger than 2.04" intake and 1.70" exhaust. No SVO. No aftermarket heads allowed. No porting, polishing, or alterations to heads of any kind. Flat milling allowed. Guide plates. screw-in studs (0.375" max) and poly locks allowed, no stud girdles. Roller Rockers are allowed.
D) Flat top or dished pistons only.
E) Any length push rods allowed.
F) Crankshafts strokes allowed:

9.13 Chrysler:
A) Stock OEM cast iron blocks 273, 318, 340, 360.
B) Maximum 370 cubic inches.
C) Any OEM factory production Chrysler heads allowed with inline valves (no canted valves) no larger than 2.04-inch intake and 1.70-inch exhaust. No porting, polishing, or alterations to heads of any kind. Flat milling allowed. No W-2 or aftermarket heads allowed. Chrysler may use OEM rocker arm bars.
D) Flat top or dished pistons only.
E) Any length push rods allowed.
F) Crankshafts strokes allowed:

These are the 2550 lbs head rules.
GM may use any stock OEM production head, Vortex, RHS 12317 & 12318, Dart spec. 10320010, 1031112, World Product 011250, 012150, Bowtie 12480034
Ford may use any cast iron OEM production head with inline valves (no canted valves), World Product 53040, Dart 13311112, RHS 35302
Chrysler may use any cast iron OEM production head with inline valves (no canted valves), RHS 20300, 20301
9.14 Track has option to enforce these restrictions with a cubic inch pump gauge, or by visually checking parts and part numbers. Disqualification and loss of points if found illegal.
9.15 Rear of engine (bell housing flange) must be at least 72 inches forward from the centerline of the rear axle.
9.16 The center of the crankshaft must be within two and one-half (2 1/2) inches of centerline of the ball joints.
9.17 Extra capacity oil pans are permitted.
9.18 No dry sumps allowed.
9.19 Oil pump must mount in stock position.
9.20 Engine must have working starter and must be capable of starting car on demand.
9.21 Only OEM production transmissions allowed.
9.22 All forward and reverse gears must be operational, plus a neutral position. With engine running and car in still position, driver must be able to engage car in gear and move forward, then backward.
9.23 No ‘in and out’ boxes or quick-change devices allowed.
9.24 Functioning shift levers must be in OEM location.
9.25 One steel or aluminum OEM style/size flywheel or steel OEM style/size flex plate allowed, must be bolted directly to end of crankshaft.
9.26 Automatic: Must be unaltered, two or three speed, OEM production case with a functioning stock appearing pump. Must have an approved scatter shield constructed of .125-inch by three-inch steel, 270 degrees around top of flex plate. Splined drive flange coupler with internal pressure relief device, gate valve, or torque converter (10-inch min) only. Hydraulic lines may not extend in to cockpit .
9.27 Manual: Must be unaltered, two, three or four speed in OEM production case. No five (or more) speeds allowed. Must have working clutch inside explosion-proof steel bell housing with one hole for throw out bearing lever or hose, must be 270 degrees around top of clutch and flywheel area.
9.28 MINI-CLUTCH ALLOWED. Components must rotate, consistent with engine rpm, while car is in any gear.
9.29 No Bert, Brinn, or Falcon type transmissions allowed.
9.30 Collector type header allowed. Exhaust must be directed away from areas of possible fuel spillage. No zoomies, no tri y headers.
Remember if in the rules it does not say you can, then you can not.
