Compact Car Class DerbyRules and Regulations
Compact cars can be 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drives only.  No V8’s or rear wheel drives.  Compact cars must abide by all Demolition derby rules and regulations listed below.  All factory passenger cars may be entered as long as the vehicle is not classified as a pickup or SUV.  Also, no convertibles, carryalls, mini vans, or 4-wheel drives.  Locked front axles are allowed. All interior of the vehicle, except the drivers’ seat, must be removed, including the head liner, door panels, carpet, and any other flammable material.  A drivers’ seat belt must be installed and used.  This includes plastic fender wells and such under hood area.  The dash may remain if you choose as long as all sharp and loose items are dealt with.  All glass, side chrome stripping, name plated, door handles, pot metal, plastic, small grill pieces, or any other pieces that might break and fall off, must be removed before entering the arena.  DO NOT BREAK GLASS OUT WITH A HAMMER! IT MUST BE CLEANLY REMOVED.  This rule will be strictly enforced so that we will be able to have future events in this arena.  Cars must have a least three bars or chains attached vertically to the center of the windshield open area (to prevent the hood from coming into the car).  All doors must be secured by chains, or bolting, or welding.  If body seems are welded, 1 inch by ¼ strap can be used or rebar but can only be welded 4 inches, then drop 4 inches.  A support must be attached horizontally on the outside of the driver’s door, not to extend more than 6 inches in front of the driver’s door and 12 inches behind the driver’s door.  Support must not exceed 12 inches in width, and must be securely fastened and tapered on both ends.  No pointed supports or extended bolts.  Cars must have one pipe welded from driver’s side to passenger side, directly behind the driver’s seat, with a 6x6 inch plate welded to both ends so it does not act as a pear, or a rollover bar is permitted along with seat support and can be exposed on top of roof area and can be mounted to floor area with a 6x6 plate.  Dash bars are permitted with or without a dash.  Optional passenger bar to seat brace is permitted, cannot be welded to frame and at least 12 inches away from the passenger side door.  All trunk lids and wagon tailgates must be secured by welding using 1 inch by ¼ straps, rebar, rod or chain or bolt.  No reinforcement of wagon tailgates or trunk lids is allowed.  The removal of tailgates and truck lids is permitted.  Hoods may be secured with ¾ inch all thread through frame, with a maximum of 4 bolts or 4 chains.  Hood plates not to exceed 4x4 inches.  (Same thing with trunk deck)  Hood must open for inspection.  Hoods must have a hole cut in case of fire.  At least 12 inch hole is required.  Suspension must not be altered from factory.  Trailing arms must remain stock.  All body mounts (rubber biscuit and metal pucks) must be stock and in original location.  Coil springs must be stock and in original location.  Coil spring may be secured by a loose chain, bolt or cable.  No all thread to replace chocks.  You may not remove “pucks” and place washers on outside of body and frame, but must not exceed ¾” diameter or 5” washer diameter and stock length.  Body bolt may not extend below frame, all bolts and nuts must be inside the frame.  Do not paint undercoat or cover the frame in anyway.  All vehicles must have a front and rear bumper.  No special construction bumpers, extra weights, trailer hitches, special lift kits, blocks, shackles, or push bars allowed.  No welded bumpers, however, shock bumpers may be welded to frame but no shimming or spacers allowed between frame and shock towers.  Shock towers must be factory.  Each bumper must be chained on with two chains (one on each side).  Continued…..

All factory frame holes must remain open.  Rusted frames may be repaired but thickness of metal used must not exceed factory frame thickness.  No pining, seam welding, or strengthening of frames or additional body bolting of any kind.  Tires have to DOT approved.  No paddle or tractor/forklift tires allowed.  Nothing but air is allowed in tires.  Valve stem protection is permitted but shall not extend out past the wheel.  Tire in a tire permitted.  Fender trimming for clearance is allowed.
Motor modifications are optional. Motors must be secure in vehicle.  Chained or welded motor mounts permitted.  Any radiator may be used, but it must be secured in factory location.  Radiators and fans may be removed but not relocated.  Radiator overflow tube must be attached and directed toward the surface of the track.  No added radiator protection.  Placing ice in front of radiator is permitted if you inform derby officials of your intent to use ice.  Transmission coolers permitted.  Non-flammable shield between them and the drives is required.  Lines must be of solid tubing or high pressure hose.  Rubber lines must be double clamped at a minimum inside the car.  Original fuel tank must be removed.  Preferably marine type metal tank or fuel cell, (no gas cans) must be securely mounted by metal or nylon traps, and covered with a non flammable shield.  No rubber straps or wire will be allowed.  Maximum of 5 gallons of gas.  Electric fuel pump permitted WITH a kill switch beside the driver seat and must be CLEARLY MARKED.  All openings in the firewall must be closed.  Batteries must be securely mounted in the front passenger seat area and bolted down and covered.  No more than 2 batteries allowed.
A crash helmet must be worn and securely fastened while on the track.  Eye protection is recommended.  Shirts and jeans are required.  Slogans and advertising may be placed on the vehicle, except on front doors and top of car.  Twelve (12) inch numbers and name shall be placed on both front doors and top.  No obscene writing or pictures, or anything otherwise considered to be “in poor taste” shall be printed or drawn on the vehicle. IF WORK ON THE CAR IS NOT WRITTEN IN THE RULES, THEN YOU CAN’T DO IT.
Pit gates will open at 3:00 pm. 
Thirty dollars ($30) enters one (1) car, one (1) driver and one (1) pit crew, payable immediately upon entering the arena grounds and before inspection.  All vehicles must be inspected prior to 6:00pm.  Vehicle must be unloaded immediately for inspection, to help in speeding the process along.  The number of vehicles allowed in the gate per entry, is the vehicle delivering the derby car and one support vehicle.  Entry fee is NON refundable.  Only the driver and pit person is allowed in the pit area.  Additional pit passes may be obtained at fifteen dollars ($15) each.  All drivers and pit members must sign a “Waiver and release of Liability” form before entering the pit area.  All drivers and pit members participating must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and show a valid drivers’ license.  Only the driver and one person from the pit crew of the car being inspected will be allowed in the inspection area.  Absolutely no one will be allowed to compete under the influence of drugs/alcohol.  Any person who seems to be getting out of hand will be escorted to the exit gate by the security.  Continued………………..

Upon passing inspection the vehicle will be placed and secured in a heat lane in the pit area.  NO work will take place on the vehicle after being placed in a heat lane.  If violation of this rule occurs, the vehicle will be disqualified from competition.  Additional inspections concerting all rules and regulations may be performed prior to each heat.  Any violations found during preheat inspections will result in disqualification.
If a car does not meet the conditions of rules, it will not be allowed in the derby competition.  The overall safety will be determined by officials at time of inspection.  If a vehicle does not pass inspection, you may do the required work on the grounds, so that it will meet the required regulations, AS LONG AS, work is completed by final inspection time AND work area is CLEANED UP!  The work area WILL BE inspected and MUST be CLEAN before a car will be allowed to enter a heat lane.   If there are more than 22 cars then we will divide the cars into two heats.  The same driver may enter more than one heat, but must have a different car for each heat.  
Drivers are required to attend the DRIVERS meeting at 6:30 prior to the race.  No complaints after the drivers meeting.  All concerns must be brought up DURING the drivers meeting.  All drivers will be held responsible for the actions of their pit crew. (A pit crew can get a car and driver disqualified.) NO pit crew member allowed on the track at ANY time during the competition.  Upon completion of heat the driver will be allowed to exit his/her car and hook the tow rope to be removed from arena. 
Heat Rules:  No hitting the driver’s door.  All drivers must complete an aggressive hit on alternation competitors with 60 seconds.  No sandbagging or team driving.  Any car that has more than two fires in the engine compartment during a heat or feature will be disqualified for the rest of the derby.  If for the good of competition, the judges see fit to alter the program, they are free to do so at their discretion.  Drivers must obey flag signals.  If judge gives a driver a red flag then the stick must be broken by judge or driver.  Decisions of the judges will be final.
Immediately following the derby, all cars and parts must be removed from arena/speedway/pit areas.

    The number of vehicles per heat and the number of heats will be determined by the number of entries.  The number of consolation heats will be determined by the number of entries.  The last 2 active cars in each heat will advance to the feature.  If a driver has two “Heat winner” cars for the feature, he may designate one of his pit members (with all forms completed) to drive one of his cars in the feature.  If a heat winner is unable to drive in the feature, he may designate one of his pit members (with all forms/waivers completed) to drive his car in the feature.  If a “heat winner” vehicle is unable to make the feature, then the vehicle that was the 3rd remaining vehicle from that heat may advance to the feature as an alternate.  NOTE:  Each heat will begin immediately after clearing the arena from the previous heat.  There will be 20 minutes between the last heat and the consolation heats.
  All drivers and pit members must attend pit meeting prior to derby at 6:30 pm.

MIRZA SHRINE DEMOLITION DERBY WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY
    We, the undersigned, being all of the drivers, pit crew and infield help of any entry, do hereby petition the Mirza Shrine, to be allowed to participate in the Demolition Derby to be held at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
    To induce the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, Kansas, to allow participation we do hereby represent that each of us is  18 years of age or older.
Each of us do agree to participate in the Demolition Derby at our own risk and each of us hereby release and absolve the Mirza Shrine of any and all liability to any of us resulting from injury or injuries to any of us, or damage to our property, as a result of our participation in the Demolition Derby aforesaid.
    We further agree, that if allowed to compete, we will remove the compact cars from the Demolition Derby site, meaning the Humboldt Speedway, by Sunday at 2:OO pm September 19, 2010.  We further agree that our compact cars become the property of the Mirza Shrine to be disposed of at their discretion, if such compact cars remain on the derby site on or after said date of September 19, 2010, 2:00 pm, and if we have not, at least, made contact with the Mirza Shrine, for other arrangements for the car or cars.  We, and each of us, further agree that the Mirza Shrine will not incur ANY liability, because we pay an entry fee to participate in said Demolition Derby.
