Whitworth Spring Classic Opens 2025 Tour

Whitworth Spring Classic Opens 2025 Tour

*Grain Valley, MO (March 17, 2025) - This weekend the lid lifts on the 2025 USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels. The month of March and Modifieds go hand in hand with Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas. Two days are on tap, with a Thursday evening practice thrown in for everybody to get some laps before the event starts.

*This weekend will pay tribute to the Whitworth family, long-time owners of the iconic facility. They got into the racing business in Humboldt, back in 1990 and owned the facility for over 30 years, retiring and selling the speedway following the 2021 season.

*“Todd Staley and our family really pushed the track to what it was and what it became known for,” said Ryan Whitworth, son of Rhenda and the late Ron Whitworth. “My mom and dad worked so hard to build this place and keep it open all those years. We had some great events, including a ton of USMTS shows, the King of America and Battle at the Bullring.”

*“We had so many wonderful employees who were here 20 years or more,” Whitworth further added. “I'm happy to get several of them back at the track this weekend and catch up. We'll have a great time.”

*Since selling the track, Whitworth had a hand in the track prep. He is scaling that back this season, but will have an eye on it for this weekend, always ready to lend a hand if necessary.

*Several new faces are looking to give the Heartland Tour a go this year and should mix it up. Some are veteran racers, while a few have jumped up from the B-Mod ranks.

*“Each new year is really a lot of fun,” said Series Director and partner Erick Chesterman. “We have some unknowns, but that's ok. Interest is high and that's what really matters. We have some new procedures in place and have worked hard over the off-season on the business and competition end of things! I want to give a sincere thanks to all of the sponsorship partners, tracks and racers who will support our efforts this year!”

*Each night this coming weekend will be its own standalone show, with payouts each night. The standard event purse has swelled to $350 to start this season, a jump of $100 per position. This ensures more competitors leave the track in better shape than a year ago.

*FOE Enterprises currently owns the race track and John Allen calls the day to day shots. His partner JR Sartain wanted to share the following about the Whitworth family.

*“The Whitworth family has been instrumental in building and the development of Humboldt and the surrounding areas. They have a long history in the construction business and ownership of Humboldt Speedway. Nobody cared more about the fans and participants than the Whitworth’s did and still do! It is an honor to salute them by teaming up with the best regional series in the country, The Heartland Modified Tour, and appropriately naming the series opener, The Whitworth Spring Classic!”
The USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels would like to recognize and thank their 2025 season long partners.
