Domer Conquers, Westhoff Repeats at Humboldt Speedway

Humboldt Speedway- Humboldt Speedway celebrated and crowned its Midseason Points Champions on Friday night with a lightning fast race track that demanded all the horsepower drivers could find. In Whelen All-American Racing Series Modifieds, Nevada, Missouri’s Chase Domer led wire to wire picking up his first victory of the season. Domer held off Cody Schniepp and Tad Davis by running the highline around the Hummer in race that tested drivers patience and skill. Midseason Points Champion Mitch Keeter, who currently sits second in the nation in National NASCAR Whelen All-American Series standings, managed a fourth place finish with Chanute’s Paden Phillips rounding out the top five. Next Friday’s 26th Annual Modified Shootout & Fireworks Display will award $2000 to the Modified winner. Past winners of the event include: Randy Zimmerman, Kelly Shryock, Jason Hughes, Justin Folk, Jeremy Payne and defending two-time winner Matt Dotson.
In Ray’s Metal Depot B Modifieds, Shane Collins picked up his second win of the season while securing his Midseason Points Championship. Collins used his pole position starting spot to lead every lap. Dakota Foster held a late-race rally to finish second. Cody Jolly, current National Points leader in Division II ran third with Tyler Kidwell and Riley Whitworth completing the top five. Heat wins went to Jolly, Whitworth and Collins.
Fastshafts by Axle Exchange Street Stocks saw the continuing battle between Jay Lamons Jr. and his son Ethan Lamons. The two battled side by side for the lead in a Father’s Day duel. Mechanical issues forced Ethan to retire on lap twelve with Jay leading the remainder for the win. Midseason Points Champion Shane Cook edged out Rusty Etherton for second and the points title. Nick Fritch and Hunter Oswald filled out the top five,
Following Jon Westhoff’s victory last week in the $600 to win feature, all eyes were focused on the Chanute driver for this weeks Factory Stock tilt.. Westhoff renewed his battle with Bryce Weldon Jr as the two raced side by side and bumper to bumper over the sixteen lap A feature. Westhoff’s win, his fifth of the season, earned him a Midseason Points Championship as well. Weldon, Derek Wilson, Jacob Ellison and Wayne Johnson completed the top five. In now suprise heat race wins went to Westhoff and Weldon.
The Sport Compact class saw a reversal in fortune from last weeks events with John Willard distancing the field. The win, Willard’s eighth on the year, cemented his Midseason Points Championship. Eric Ikehorn and Anthony Johnson rounded out the top three. Last weeks winner and Willard teammate Barry Luthi suffered mechanical issues and was forced to retire.
As previously stated, next week the Whelen All-American Modifieds will battle for a $2000 to win purse in the 26th Annual Modified Shootout. The annual Fireworks display will follow the Modified feature.
