POWRi West Midgets Set for Humboldt Speedway Double Dip this Weekend

POWRi West Midgets Set for Humboldt Speedway Double Dip this Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 20, 2018) – Southeast Kansas is the destination as the Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League presented by Executive Concrete NWA takes to Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS, for two full nights of racing action on Friday and Saturday.

It will mark the series’ first visit to the high-banked, 3/8-mile clay oval since Steven Shebester beat Wesley Smith and Grady Chandler to the line in the series first Humboldt appearance during August of 2017.

On the strength of a series-best ten top-five feature runs, Springfield, Missouri’s Kory Schudy leads the way into the weekend with a healthy lead in the POWRi West championship points chase.

Fourteen-year-old Hank Davis of Sand Springs, OK, has climbed to second in points with Nixa, Missouri’s Wesley Smith, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Hannah Adair and Bixby, Oklahoma’s Cannon McIntosh filling out the current top five in points.

Parity has prevailed in the POWRi West Midget ranks thus far in 2018 with 15 different winners in 18 feature events.

The only drivers to post multiple wins include Christopher Bell, who swept the season-opening double at Oklahoma City’s I-44 Riverside Speedway, along with Broken Arrow’s Jonathan Beason and Missouri’s Smith.

Single wins have been scattered among another dozen drivers including Schudy, Davis, McIntosh, Blake Edwards, Ace McCarthy, Tucker Klaasmeyer, Jake Neuman, Logan Seavey, Tanner Carrick, Kyle Jones, Jerry Coons, Jr., and Tyler Thomas.

In total, more than $12,000 in points fund money is up for grabs in the POWRi West Midget League and POWRi West Sooner Series action for 2018.

In addition to Lucas Oil and Executive Concrete NWA, additional POWRi West Midget League supporting sponsors include Two-Eight Drilling, American Discount Auto Care, R&M Race Trailer and A1 Machine.

Contingency sponsors include Smith Ti (Heat One), Keizer Wheels (Heat Two), Saldana Products (Heat Three), Rod End Supply (Heat Four), Pyrotech (Heat Five), BOSS Performance (High Point Driver), MPI “Official Steering Wheel” of POWRi West, Esslinger Engineering Performance Award (top-finishing Esslinger entry), and the MyChron Tom/AIM bonus of $300 (1st), $150 (2nd) and $50.

Racing action is set to get under way at 8:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Humboldt Speedway is located of Highway 169 Exit #224, then west one block, turn left to go to the stop sign and turn left again. The Speedway is then one mile on the right. For those travelers from the north, make sure to follow appropriate detours due to construction. The Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League presented by Executive Concrete NWA is slated for 29 nights of competition at 14 different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. The POWRi West Sooner Series consists of the dozen events in the state of Oklahoma.
