BRANDON VINK WIRES THE USRA TUNER FIELD AT HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY!

By Scott Lee Stewart

As in any motorsports class, be it beginner or NASCAR, there are a handful of drivers who are just plain fast. Humboldt, Ks. driver Brandon Vink is a case in point.

Vink, who turns in a consistent performance every week, started deep in the field of his Humboldt Speedway USRA Tuner heat race, skillfully maneuvered his way to the win, and qualified for the inside pole of the feature event. From that point, he proceeded to lead all 16 feature laps for the victory. Robert Moore of Humboldt was the runner up, with Clint Haigler completing the trifecta of Humboldt residents in third spot. Fourth place went to Colony, Ks. driver Jonathan Culver claimed fourth, and William Todd of Humboldt rounded out the top five.

The Ray’s Metal Depot B-Mod feature was, as usual, a hard fought affair, captured this week by Tyler Kidwell of Chanute, despite strong challenges by runner up Levi McGowen and third place finisher Jeremy Chambers. Donald McIntosh came home fourth, Kenton Allen was fifth.

Carter Brownsberger of Nevada, Mo. won the Love’s Travel Stops Midwest Mod feature, with Jackson McGowen showing a fine performance in finishing a close second, with Henry Chambers, son of Jeremy, locking down third from a deep in the 17 car field starting spot. Ethan Lamons made his 2021 debut with a fourth place finish, Scott Collins was fifth.

Survival was the name of the game in the Home Savings Bank Factory Stock main event; only 3 drivers managed to take the checkered: Derrek Wilson in first, Trey Stipp in second, and Kalob Cleaver in third.

The upcoming weekend will feature USRA “A” Mods on hand to compete for $2000 in winning money in THE HUMMER 50, with all other classes competing as well. Plus, there will be a fireworks extravaganza after the races!
