Humboldt, KS- With the 2016 season only a few weeks away, Humboldt Speedway is pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Fehr to the Humboldt Speedway Team. Jeff will be joining 25 year announcing veteran Scott Stewart in the announcer's booth to bring you all the action at the Hummer. Humboldt Speedway celebrated the 2016 Opening Night in heart-pumping fashion last Friday night with 76 cars checking in, along with 26 ASCS Red River Region Sprint cars on the 3/8 mile oval. Taking the Checkers in Ray's Metal Depot USRA B Mods was Ft. Scott's Jerry Morgan. Grabbing the McCarthy Auto Group USRA Modified was local Chanute racer Paden Phillips. With the full cooperation of Mother nature, this weeks racing at Humboldt Speedway proved to be equal. Parson Kansas driver,Jeremy Chambers, led from the pole and held off several challenges from Archie, Missouri's Matt Johnson and Nevada, Missouri's Jon Sheets to take the USRA A Modified win. After mother nature forced a cancellation on Friday night, Sunday welcomed drivers to Humboldt Speedway for a night of great racing. Humboldt- Tad Davis had been patient this season, watching fellow Wichita area driver Cody Schniepp take wins while Davis ran second. Following a recent accident, the bridge over 169 has been temporarily closed to thru traffic. Please use the alternate route provided to get to Humboldt Speedway. Taking the Tank Farm Road Exit ( Two Miles South of Humboldt Exit) head east to either 1600 Rd, which is gravel and has low water bridge, or to 2200 Rd., which is asphalt. With temperatures hitting the upper 90's, the races held Friday evening were just as hot. Add to this night the Midseason Points Championship and the result was some of the closest racing seen this year. Fourth of July means fireworks, that's what Humboldt Speedway provided Friday night. Also, $2000 to win in the McCarthy Auto Group / USRA Modified gave racers an additional bit of motivation.
